Homeschooled students are welcome to apply to RISD. A student's program of study must be approved by the state or country's department of education; if it is not, we require GED results by the end of senior year. Detailed information about secondary coursework is helpful — a transcript from an online program, a document written by the parent or provider detailing the program of study, or transcripts from any community-college classes. Upload transcripts to the Common Application or email them to admissions@risd.edu. If a parent writes a letter of recommendation, we strongly recommend also submitting a second letter from a teacher, professional, or mentor.
