At San José State University (SJSU), the application process and admission requirements are the same for all first-time freshman applicants whether traditional, non-traditional, or home-schooled. All applicants must meet the California State University (CSU) eligibility requirements as well as SJSU's impaction criteria, which may include higher academic thresholds for certain majors due to limited space. Admission is based primarily on high school coursework and GPA in approved "A-G" subject areas. SJSU is currently test-blind through Fall 2026, meaning SAT or ACT scores are not considered for admission but may be used for placement after enrollment. All students must also meet immunization requirements prior to registering for classes.
