Homeschool students should be prepared to submit a transcript that includes all high school level coursework with grades, and when applicable, where the class was taken (for example, the community college or online program), a secondary school report form through Common App that is typically completed by a parent, this allows the parent to share information about the homeschool program such as any external providers that were used, grading scale, curriculum selection, homeschool association membership etc, a “counselor” letter of recommendation that is typically completed by the parent, if possible a separate teacher letter of recommendation (this can be waived if all courses have been instructed by the parent). For the SAT or ACT test, we know we will remain test optional for students applying in Fall 2025. Like other applicants for Fall 2025, homeschool students can choose if they would like to submit SAT or ACT testing, and these scores can be self-reported on their application. Official score reports aren’t needed until after a student accepts an offer of admission. At this time, course descriptions are not required, but families are welcome to submit them, if they feel it will give the admission office additional information or context about the courses taken.
