William Jewell welcomes applications from homeschooled students. However, because the nature of a homeschool environment can make it more challenging to evaluate academic rigor and engagement, homeschooled applicants are required to submit a standardized test score as part of their application.
Students applying from a homeschool background should complete the standard Application for Admission, along with the following additional materials:
A transcript provided by a diploma-granting organization, or completion of the Transcript Form by the individual primarily responsible for the applicant’s education.
Coursework context is critical. William Jewell places a strong emphasis on understanding what courses the student has taken. If a student does not follow a typical high school path, they should be prepared to clearly explain and describe their academic journey.
Any classes taken at two- or four-year colleges should be listed on the high school transcript or transcript form. In addition, official transcripts must be submitted from any colleges where the applicant was enrolled, regardless of whether credit was awarded.
Note: College credits earned before high school graduation will not be accepted unless the official transcript is received by the end of the applicant’s first semester at William Jewell.
Official score reports from the ACT and/or SAT are required for all homeschool applicants. Homeschooled students are not required to take the HiSET, GED, or other equivalency exams.
One academic recommendation from a teacher or professor who can speak to the applicant’s academic abilities. This recommender must not be a family member.
